The quaint structure before you is St. Peter’s on-the-Rock Anglican Church. The 'Church on the Rock', as it is often known, first opened its doors to parishioners on June 28, 1914. Locals had been holding worship services in their cottages for 7 years when Mr. F.W. Lillicrap offered this island to house a church in 1913. In 1920, the Clergy Cottage was built on the far side of the island as a summer home for an incumbent minister and family. This serene setting has made the parish a favourite spot for weddings and baptisms for decades with only two funerals ever held here. Today St. Peter’s continues to hold a special place on the weekly calendars of many local residents and visitors.
